Civil and Concrete Upgrades within the Operating Plant

Overview

Pructon was engaged by Rio Tinto Alcan to complete civil upgrades and concrete remediation within an operating plant on the Gove Peninsula. The project involved upgrading existing footings and extending slabs to support critical infrastructure. Additionally, the team undertook modifications to the water channel to divert seawater to a new pit, where four pumps were installed. This setup facilitated the transfer of seawater to the SNL tank and, ultimately, to the GEO pump for carrying red mud to the designated ponds.

Scope of Work

• Detailed Excavation: Executed precise excavation to accommodate new footings and the earthing grid.
• Site Surveying: Conducted surveying to ensure accurate placement of footings and extensions.
• Steel Reinforcement and Earthing Grid Installation: Reinforced and welded steel, securely integrating the earthing grid into the footings.
• Electrical Conduit Installation: Installed electrical conduits within footings, supporting future infrastructure needs.
• Concrete Pouring and Finishing: Completed concrete pouring and finishing for footings, slab extensions, and associated structures.
