Overview

Pructon was engaged to design and construct two fuel blending tanks at the Northern Oil site in Gladstone, each with a holding capacity of 270,000 litres. This project included the fabrication of associated pipework to support the tanks' operational requirements. The tanks were manufactured and painted at Pructon's Gladstone mechanical workshop before being transported to the site and installed.

Scope of Work

  • Design and Certification of Tanks: Complete design and certification process to meet industry standards for fuel storage.
  • Fabrication of Tanks: Construction of two tanks, each measuring 20 metres in height and 5 metres in diameter, in our Gladstone workshop.
  • Surface Treatment and Cladding: Application of surface treatments followed by cladding to ensure durability and compliance with specifications.
  • Transport and Unloading: Safe transport of the tanks under escort to the site, followed by unloading procedures.
  • Fabrication and Installation of Pipework: Fabrication and installation of approximately 500 metres of pipe, including valves and pumps, with sections fabricated in our workshop and additional lengths completed on-site.
  • Standing the Tanks: Erection of the tanks and precise placement onto their designated footings.
  • Hydrostatic Testing and Commissioning: Conducting hydrostatic testing of the tanks and associated pipework to ensure operational integrity and commissioning of the entire system.
