Overview

Pructon was engaged to construct and install a complete fuel handling facility for the Leichhardt gas-fired power station in Mount Isa, part of the Diamantina Power Station project. This facility included a diesel fuel farm with two 40,000-litre fuel tanks, along with comprehensive piping and structural supports. The scope involved both off-site fabrication and on-site installation, ensuring the system was fully operational and met all client specifications. Pructon played a critical role in delivering this fuel farm as a key component of the $65 million power station project.

Scope of Work

  • Off-Site Fabrication of Pipework: Fabricated and prepared piping and structural supports off-site to enhance quality control and project efficiency.
  • On-Site Installation of Pipework, Pumps, and Valves: Installed essential piping, pumps, and valves at the site to facilitate efficient fuel handling and transfer.
  • Tank Installation: Positioned and secured two 40,000-litre diesel fuel tanks within the facility.
  • System Commissioning: Conducted comprehensive testing and commissioning to confirm full functionality and alignment with client specifications.

Outcomes and Benefits

  • Efficient Fuel Management System: The completed fuel farm provides reliable fuel storage and handling, supporting the power station’s operations effectively.
  • Seamless Integration and Compliance: Pructon’s fabrication and installation met stringent quality and safety standards, ensuring seamless integration within the overall power station infrastructure.
  • Enhanced Project Efficiency: By pre-fabricating pipework and supports off-site, Pructon minimised on-site work time, streamlining the installation and commissioning phases.
