Project Overview

Pructon is proud to be delivering the Mechanical Equipment and Piping Installation package for the CBST systems as part of the Prospect Pre-treatment Plant (PPTP) project in Western Sydney.

Delivered under the SUEZ ACCIONA Joint Venture (SAJV) for Sydney Water, the Prospect Pre-treatment Plant is a major infrastructure project designed to strengthen drinking water security and resilience for Greater Sydney. Once complete, the facility will support the treatment and transfer of up to 750ML/day of raw water servicing approximately 4.3 million people across the Sydney metropolitan network.

Located adjacent to Prospect Reservoir, the new pre-treatment facility incorporates advanced chemically ballasted sedimentation technology through the installation of five Compact Biological and Settling Tanks (CBST), supporting improved water quality and operational reliability across Sydney Water’s network.

Scope of Work

Pructon’s scope includes the installation, assembly, testing, alignment, and commissioning support for a broad range of complex mechanical systems associated with the CBST process infrastructure.

The package includes:

  • Fabrication of stainless-steel process piping and sludge transfer systems
  • Mechanical equipment installation for five DENSADEG treatment units
  • Installation of stainless-steel process piping and sludge transfer systems
  • Assembly and installation of rotary lobe sludge pumps and coagulation mixers
  • Installation of penstocks, stopboards, valves, pipe supports, and lifting davits
  • Chemical dosing infrastructure, including ferric chloride, polymer, PolyDADMAC, and lime dosing systems
  • Service water, potable water, and compressed air reticulation systems
  • Hydrostatic testing, QA/QC documentation, MDR compilation, and commissioning support
  • Coordination with civil, structural, electrical, and process installation interfaces across the project

The works also include the installation of critical sludge extraction and recirculation systems, manual and automated sampling infrastructure, washdown systems, safety shower stations, and associated process support services.

Technical Capability

The CBST installation package involves complex coordination across multiple disciplines and interfaces within a live major infrastructure environment. Pructon’s delivery approach focuses on safety, constructability, quality assurance, and efficient installation sequencing to support the overall SAJV construction program.

The project includes the installation of:

  • DN250–DN1200 process pipework systems
  • SS316 Schedule 10s stainless steel sludge piping
  • Double-contained chemical dosing pipework
  • Pneumatic and motorised valve systems
  • Structural pipe supports and mechanical platforms
  • Process equipment requiring precision alignment and testing

The installation methodology has been developed to align with Sydney Water specifications, Australian Standards, and SAJV quality and environmental requirements

Building Strong Partnerships

The Prospect Pre-treatment Plant represents a significant investment in Greater Sydney’s future water infrastructure. Pructon is proud to contribute to a project that enhances water treatment capability, operational resilience, and long-term supply security for millions of residents across the region.

This package further reinforces Pructon’s capability in delivering complex SMP and mechanical installation works across major water, utilities, and infrastructure projects throughout Australia.
